Chocolate Shortbread Hearts

Hard to believe but these beautiful chocolate shortbread cookies were home made and really do taste as good as they look. I wish you could have seen for yourselves how each half of the cookie was so perfectly dipped in chocolate on the top half only. I think the baker in question should provide us all with a masterclass in how to dip cookies in chocolate so artfully. These cookies are definitely worth book marking for Valentine's Day if not for every day! These cookies definitely derserved a win in the competition.

This recipe should yield approximately 30 cookies.


8oz plain flour

4oz cornflour

8oz butter

4oz caster sugar

8oz cooking chocolate

Rub the butter into sifted flour.

Gently knead the mixture with your hands into a dough.

Cut the dough in half.

Roll out the first half of the dough and make cut outs with a heart cutter.

Repeat with the other half of the dough.

Place the hearts on a greased and floured tray (or onto trays lined with parchment).

Bake for 18 to 20 minutes at 165 - 170C (fan oven).

Remove from the oven and cool completely.

Melt the chocolate in the microwave (carefully! I would suggest 30 second bursts folowed by a stir).

Dip half of each biscuit in the chocolate and leave to set.
