Candied Oranges Slices


1 blood orange (or regular orange or lemon)

1/2 cup caster sugar

1/2 cup water

Thinly slice your orange.

Bring a pan of water to the boil and drop in your thinly sliced oranges and boil for one minute.

Meanwhile, quickly prepare a bowl of iced water and drop the orange slices into it. Leave the slices cooling for a couple of minutes.

Whilst the orange slices are cooling off, bring to the boil in a shallow pan the sugar and water. Carefully place the orange slices in the pan and simmer for one hour.

After one hour has elapsed, place the slices on a wire rack to dry.

The candied slices can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one month.
